The Council of Conservative Citizens is a group of updated know-nothing types, who believes the United States is a Christian country, a white country, a European-American country, and the rest of it. At its National Conference held in Nashville, CofCC member, anti-Semite, racist, homophobe James Edwards live-broadcast his white supremacist, neo-nazi, hate-talk radio show, Political Cesspool, which is carried by Stormfront Media.
During the broadcast from the CofCC National Conference, a guy named Tim Adams told this story:
Adams describes himself as a Clinton primary supporter, who later voted for McCain in the 2008 general election. While a student at the University of Hawaii, he says he was working a temp position and came to know from his superiors at the local Honolulu elections office, part of the City Clerk’s office, that Barack Obama was not born in that city or county or anywhere in the State of Hawaii.
In early 2009, Timothy Lee Adams self-published a print-on-demand book, The River And Other Stories, which was apparently an update of a 2007 book, “Stories I’ve Finished Before I’m Dead.” This first issue was marketed as fiction. The book, as reissued, is categorized “motivational” and similar categories; assuming from that, if the stories are about his own life, he was as miserable and hateful a child as he appears to be as an adult.
He hated everybody and everybody hated him. His brother put him in a clothes dryer when he was small and turned it on. His schoolmates cut off a German Shepherd’s head and put it in his locker. He tried to kill his own brother who abused him. The Army later diagnosed him as mentally ill and his fellow soldiers wouldn’t be in the same room with him. (Ya think?)
He had a 1.8 GPA in high school, and today he is a graduate student at Western Kentucky University, where he taught English classes as a graduate teaching assistant, until recently. I guess that’s the “motivational” part and certainly to his credit. Adams describes his book as a “collection of anecdotes” on his xray3delta YouTube channel.
Adams has posted over the years as ‘xray3delta’ at various sites, such as this thread at Yahoo! Answers, advising a woman who had lost her husband to murder:
In a case like that, we are reminded that law enforcement were once titled “Peace Officers,” because by enforcing law, they prevented private acts of vengeance, however, the legal systems failure to execute its duty in no way negates your right to redress or to vengeance. If this was a crime that has no direct ties to some conflict between your husband and the perpetrator, I would suggest some willing parties be found to go and kill the man. If law enforcement is unwilling to do their job, society cannot allow lawlessness to go unpunished.

I am, among other things, an ex-convict and murderer.
Okey-dokey.
Posting as ‘kalihihaole’ at Topix, he gave his email address beginning xray3delta@[redacted]. In February of 2009, also on Topix:
Notice, another white woman attacked by some “guy” yeah, let’s see how brown the F*****R is when he’s brought in. More local culture on display. Time we weeded out those who are unfit for society and the government that won’t get rid of them with them.
For a short time he had a blog about Hawaii under the name of “Brian Johnson,” where he also obsessed over crime, violence and race. His skinhead photo can be seen online with his writings as Timothy Lee Adams and as Brian Johnson, which is also the name on his MySpace profile, and the character representing himself in his story or anecdote, “The River,” which can be read here, with whom Adams has a conversation as “Author.” As Brian Johnson on his blog about Hawaii, he refers to his books, which are the same books published by Timothy Lee Adams.

If I am reading Adams’s MySpace page right, he may not have been in Hawaii–which he refers to repeatedly as “ghetto paradise”–for the full month of May, according to an August 18, 2008 post:
Well, it’s almost the end of August and I haven’t written since I returned from my trip down under in May. My bad, spank me with a wet noodle. Sorry, I have a life, such as it is. … I’ve been employed by the City of Honolulu, managing an office for the upcoming national and state elections, but I’m on leave til August 21st and I don’t think I’ll be going back.
So he worked two full months, maybe three, and then went “on leave” before quitting the job altogether. When exactly did this “leave” start and what was its duration? What was the reason for it? Whose idea was it that Adams go “on leave”; his or his employer’s? Why didn’t he work through the November elections, when there would finally be some actual balloting for him to oversee that concerned Obama? Was he already a PUMA Birther when he took the job and did he take the job so that he could see what he could see? And did he get caught in an audit, possibly, trying to access records he had no business looking at as an elections clerk?
I scrolled through his MySpace blog and I picked up no reference to Hillary Clinton, so I’m not sure how dedicated a Clintonista he was in 2008–although at one point he called for death to Obama and McCain supporters, which might be some indication.
On Newsvine he posted this charming sentiment:
timothy adams
…All of your, both McCain and Obama supporters are filth, civil war now, kill them all.

Since he voted for McCain, I guess his deeper hostility was toward Obama. Yet I saw no reference to Obama on his MySpace blog, except for one, and not even on Election Day.
Tomorrow we have two big events going on here in Ghetto P. At 1600hours, a group from Westboro Baptist Church will be protesting over at Punchbowl Cemetary just before the funeral for Barack Obama’s tutu (grandma). I plan to be there, while I don’t agree with these folks on some issues, it’s definitely a blessing to have a group of Christians who accurately and blatantly put the real Gospel of Jesus Christ out in the public view. I’m sure all the watered-down, milquetoasts religios will come out to disparage them. It’s okay, none of them are Christian, nor saved anyway. Hell is full of them.
He planned to picket Obama’s grandmother’s funeral and is not ashamed to say so on MySpace. Nice. I am sure Jesus would be pleased.
So, in the course of working a few months, this older college student/temporary worker somehow achieved the title of “Honolulu Chief Elections Clerk,” according to him. World Net Daily originally called Adams a “college professor,” later changing it to “instructor,” and confirmed with the Honolulu elections office of the City Clerk that Adams temped there from Spring 2008 through July, as “senior elections clerk.” Glen Takahashi, elections administrator for the City and County of Honolulu, also told WND, “Of course we know that Barack Obama has a Hawaiian birth certificate, the state says so.”
But Adams says different, in his “professional opinion” after a couple, three months temping:
Adams stressed, “In my professional opinion, [Obama] definitely was not born in Hawaii. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that he was not born in Hawaii because there is no legal record of him being born there. If someone called and asked about it, I could not tell them that person was born in the state.”
Adams implies he had access to, well, something at the elections office:
“They may say, ‘We don’t have access to that.’ The regular workers don’t, the ones processing ballots; but the people in administration do. I was the one overseeing the work of the people doing the balloting.”
What balloting? Tim Adams would have seen no presidential ballots, which wouldn’t even have been printed yet, or overseen the work of anyone who did, since three months before the November 4, 2008 general election, Adams was no longer employed in that office. No ballot for Obama himself would have been processed in Hawaii, as he was not registered to vote in Hawaii, but in Illinois, where he did vote. So for what earthly reason would his personal data be available to people in this office? Unless they were breaking privacy laws left and right, just for the hell of it, which we know can happen, and snooping into the Department of Health database, which I don’t imagine was any easier then than it is now.
He also gets more specific:
I had direct access to the Social Security database, the national crime computer, state driver’s license information, international passport information, basically just about anything you can imagine to get someone’s identity,” Adams explained. “I could look up what bank your home mortgage was in. I was informed by my boss that we did not have a birth record [for Obama].
But his boss wouldn’t have access, either:
However, when WND asked Takahashi if the elections office could check on birth records, he said, “We don’t have access to that kind of records. [There's] no access to birth records.”
As Doc Conspiracy points out:
Adams is now trying to distance himself from the white supremacists hosts of the radio show.
However, in neither of these, nor in his interview with WorldNetDaily, does Adams say what he saw or failed to see, and what he based his opinion on. If he actually claimed to have queried any of those federal databases about Obama, he would be admitting to a federal crime (Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1030(a)(2)(B) and 1030(c)(2)(A)) and could face up to a year in prison and a $10,000 fine.
A Friend of Politijab called Hawaii and spoke to a ten-year assistant to a county elections administrator:
She stated that they only have access to the State Voter Registration system. She started laughing when I read her the list of databases this guy claimed to have access to as a temporary employee no less.
Doc Conspiracy has also received word from Hawaii:
Our records indicate that Mr. Adams was employed in a clerical position as an Elections Clerk. Our office does not have access to birth records. Birth records are handled by the State of Hawaii, Department of Health.
Adams also claims that, while he was working there, 50 documents related to American diplomats were stolen, so it could be known who they voted for and they could be subjected to blackmail, or some other kind of pressure, presumably by the Obama administration. But again, nobody had voted yet when Adams says this happened. It would have to be the November elections that counted to anyone wanting to blackmail diplomats (!) or even for there to have been ballots involved at all.
Adams told WND, “I managed the absentee-ballot office. It was my job to verify the voters’ identity.”
Since Hawaii has a Caucus/Convention system, which that year was held on February 19, not a Primary, for the election of convention delegates, absentee ballots, such as from members of the diplomatic corps, would have played no part. You’d have to be physically present to participate in a Caucus. (Even absentee ballots unconnected to the presidential election were not mailed out until August 17, when Adams was no longer working at the elections office.)
So, yeah, right. Sounds like a typical Birfoon creation to me. Do we really think access to vital statistics databases, with protected personal identifying information, is tossed to temps? Of course not, and Adams never claims to have seen anything for himself about Obama’s birth certificate, just that he heard some office gossip on his summer job that there was none on file, after the office was besieged by calls from what would have then, most likely, been PUMA Birthers.
Then two years later, out of the blue, he decides to expose all on a hate-radio broadcast, beaming out from a white supremacist confab. What took him so long? He says he is no longer bound by a confidentiality agreement with his former employer.
Yet another bright shiny object for gullible Birfers.
Yet another right wing nutjob and all the hatred that comes with it.
Only worse, because a disabled veteran with a history of mental problems, a scary guy at that, is being promoted and exploited to further the Birther movement’s agenda. Anything, anything at all, is fair game, as long as it can potentially harm the President.
Update: Phil from the Right Side of Life has a statement from Tim Adams. I’ll let Phil tell it his way, without comment, but here is the statement from Adams:
Thank you for the Email. Actually I believe God has a sense of humor, because I thought these notions were pretty well common and not very important. I was actually just in Nashville, observing a conservative political conference, I’m not a member of any kind of group, and too liberal for these guys, when James Edwards, the host of the Political Cesspool, heard about me from someone and asked if I would simply state what I had observed and been told while working in Hawaii. I believe Pres. Obama was born a United States citizen, and is eligible to hold office, I find the idea that because he was probably born outside of the U.S., he must be some kind of alien to be basically racist. I do think we should close this issue and pass legislation requiring office seekers to prove identity before running for elected office.
Thanks for the kind inquiry
Okay, a brief comment. Phil seems to think World Net Daily made Tim Adams look bad in some way. I disagree with that: WND made the guy look a lot better than he’s done himself.
But I find Adams and his presentations of himself puzzling, in that we keep meeting two different personalities. I started out thinking he was just another violence-minded, right wing hatemonger and concluded, while that may still be true, he’s a guy with mental issues acting out. My latest thought is, and it’s at least possible, he is playing head games with everybody else, engaging in a kind of performance art, and we can expect his next book to be about his fleeting time in the elections office of the Honolulu City Clerk.
We’ll have to see how this all shakes out, but the fact remains, he claims information he had no access to, gained from people who also had no access. So for Birtherism and its discontents, his story is still a no-go.
