Why Go Against The LRA? Here’s Why
Hooray For The Old Folks
I’ve had a photo on my desktop for several days. It’s not one of those running with the MSNBC article below, but I found it very moving and heartening, and it fits.

Unfortunately, the photographer deserving of credit is unknown to me.
Today, MSNBC is running an article called, “Old guard back in the trenches at ‘Occupy’ protests,” about older activists getting back in the game, joining the young OWS protesters. The photos are by Noah Addis for msnbc.com.

NEW YORK — As soon as 62-year-old William Johnsen finished his intravenous drip, he waited for the nurse to apply a Band-Aid, said goodbye to the other patients and then left the veteran’s hospital for the spot where he has been spending his days for the last 3-and-a-half weeks — the “Occupy Wall Street” protest.
Johnsen, a disabled Vietnam combat veteran who suffered a heart attack in December, can’t sleep outside overnight like the young protesters due to his health issues — he has a genetic condition that has triggered emphysema and liver disease. But though the disease tires him out, the animated New York native isn’t about to sit out the crusade, which he says has given him a new sense of purpose.
“We are awakening, we’re waking up to the fact that it’s up to us,” Johnsen said Tuesday at the camp in Zuccotti Park, not long after finishing his treatment at the hospital. “Government and our other institutions of authority are so corrupt that we cannot trust them anymore. There is a rebirth of realization that it’s in our hands.” …
Older activists like Johnsen — some hobbling along on canes and leg braces — are quickly becoming a presence at “Occupy” protests across the country. And the veterans of the civil rights movement, anti-Vietnam war protests and anti-nuclear proliferation demonstrations appear to be relishing being back in the struggle, supporting the “kids” and mobilizing other seniors to join in.

How do you like them apples?
Nice Slap
Former DNC Chair Don Fowler delivers one to Mitt Romney:
Fowler also took issues with Romney’s contention that Obama lacks “resolve” on national security: “I doubt that al-Qaeda, or Osama bin Laden, questions President Obama’s resolve.” …
“As you know, President Obama, with Secretary Gates and Admiral Mullen, conducted a comprehensive review of America’s military strength and the balance between the various services and our commitments around the world,” said Fowler. “And they have tailored a troop structure and a weapons structure that is specifically suited to the 21st century.
“I don’t think anyone in America could legitimately question the authority, the reliability and the patriotism of Admiral Mullen and Secretary Gates. And President Obama has worked hand in glove to construct a strong national defense. He takes second place to no one in his commitment to defend America.
“And Governor Romney just simply is not equipped to speak to these issues as the president is. And besides, if Governor Romney said ‘A’ today, he’d say ‘B’ tomorrow.”
Cheney: Ending DADT The Right Thing
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Former Vice President Dick Cheney said Sunday he supports the Obama administration’s decision to repeal the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy banning gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military — a move that was staunchly opposed by most top Republicans.
“I think the decision that’s been made with respect to allowing gays to serve openly in the military is a good one” Cheney told CNN’s Candy Crowley on “State of the Union.” “It’s the right thing to do.”
Moran To DC To Arrest The President
Update: Daryn Moran tells the Post & Email that “two Secret Service men came at 3:00 or 3:30 this morning. They were escorted by a county sheriff.” Dean Haskins at Obama Release Your Records had a phone conversation in which Moran said the authorities had first visited his parents; and “he is not, presently, driving to DC to arrest Obama.”
From what I gathered from our conversation, they explained to him that he can go to DC, he can have meetings about his beliefs, he can state what he believes, but he cannot threaten the “president.” They also explained that stating that one is going to arrest the president is a form of threat, so he is not allowed to do that.
What A Week It Was
What a week the RWNJ Outrage Posse had for itself. The President used a paper clip. He had a beer with a Medal of Honor recipient, who had requested a beer with the President. The First Lady disrespected Old Glory by whispering something to her husband nobody but he heard.
To make matters worse, the re-election campaign, Obama For America, (Soros!), had the temerity to start a rapid response site to inform supporters and the media about the crazy lies against the President, spread by right wing lunatics and near-lunatics. So, the lunatics and near-lunatics, sure as can be that people all the time are typing .net instead of .com, rolled their own.
Here is a small sample of Birther reactions, for your laughing pleasure:
The newest spy team for Barack Obama’s re-election campaign, which yesterday was found to be making personal attacks on eligibility book author Jerome Corsi, now has been confirmed to be watching WND.com, Matt Drudge and others on the Web.
